Environment Design cOURSE

CG society course

This is a personal project I created in a CG Society short course. The course was 'Introduction to Environment Design' and it was taught by Andres Rodriguez from Naughty Dog who is an amazing Environment Artist and we all learnt a lot from him. The course centred around creating a small vignette of a dilapidated gate or entrance. I chose an Venitian setting by a canal edge. In creating this scene we would be learning about world building, low and high poly asset creation, modular design principles, building a gym, Substance Designer material creation, Substance Painter texturing,  tree and foliage creation and scene presentation in Marmoset Toolbag. I learnt a lot from this project and really enjoyed the process. As it's my first attempt at Environment design for games I obviously have a lot to learn however Andres gave me a great introduction to the process and I'm looking forward to my next environment and next time I think I'll have to try getting it into Unreal Engine.

Below you will find a lot of different content  from the project:

There are a selection of stills showcasing a few of my favourite angles and assets.

A turntable animation of the scene from marmoset viewer

and at the bottom you can find a selection of highlighted assets with close ups and wireframes plus a still of some high res sculpts of certain assets.

Thanks to CG Soceity for the course and thank you to Andres for all the knowledge :)
