Mortal Kombat II

While working at Framestore Melbourne I got the chance to work on some characters for Mortal Kombat 2. 10 yr old Jon would be kicking himself knowing that he got to work on this franchise and it was a joy to contribute to the blood soaked live action version.

My main contributions to the show were Bi-Han fatality and Kung Lao’s digi-double costume.

For the Bi-han fatality I was responsible for modelling the internal organs and gore that get revealed once Scorpion cuts him in half. Working on a fatlity was lots of fun but also a technical challenge to ensure the disected body working according the Framestore Digi pipeline. All the hard work from the team was worth it to make a Fatality come to life. So cool!

For the Kung-Lao fight sequence I was responsible for creating Kung-Lao’s costume that was used for stylised digital take-overs as well FX and lighting passes. Using a combiniation of Marvelous Designer/ Maya and Zbrush, It proved to be a challenge to build Kung-Lao’s costume for all of animation and FX’s needs but the results turned out great and it was a very enjoyable sequence to work on.
